Bordoodle Generation Definitions

F1 Bordoodle

Border Collie & Poodle

An F1 is considered the original Bordoodle (aka Border Doodle). F1 Bordoodles exhibit highly sought-after physical and mental attributes from both the Border Collie and the Poodle. Some are non shedding, some are low shedding, some are medium shedding and some are heavy shedding. Ask Mountain Rose to help you identify coat types.

F2 Bordoodle

Bordoodle & Bordoodle

An F2 dog refers to a second-generation cross. This can be the result of breeding an F1 to an F1, or breeding an F1b to an F1. Coat types within a litter may vary from wavy to curly. Mountain Rose is happy to assess coat types to help find the right fit for you!

F1b Bordoodle

Bordoodle & Poodle

F1b Bordoodles are often sought after for their high probability of being hypoallergenic and non-shedding. Their coat is usually a bit more curly/wavy than an F1 Bordoodle.

F2b Bordoodle

F1b Bordoodle & F1 Bordoodle

F2b pups are second-generation backcrossed dogs. Each F2b pup is the offspring of an F2 dog bred back to a pure bred Poodle. F2B pups have a curly coat or a wavy coat. Their coat will usually be low-nonshedding.

Reverse F1b Bordoodle

Bordoodle & Border Collie

Reverse F1b Bordoodles are often sought after for their Border Collie looks as they are 3/4 Border Collie and 1/4 poodle. Their coat is usually a bit more like a Border Collie but may be lower shedding. Their temperament may also lean a bit more towards the Border Collie.
